Lot 46

H.M. Queen Elizabeth II, four handwritten and signed letters to Angela Lascelles, one on Sandringham headed paper, dated February 2006, regarding Ascot Royal Box, second paragraph: 'I don't see any problem to your coming to the box as usual but it would help Charles Richards to organise more efficiently if you could let him know which days you would like to come. So far, the box doesn't yet exist so we are working on plans which doesn't help much!... I do hope you are better now - Margaret told me you had a bad time at Christmas', signed 'With love from Elizabeth R' (some water damage to the signature and last two lines); one on Buckingham Palace headed paper, dated June 1989, ‘I hope you will be very careful and do everything that the doctors tell you – especially not do anything! I can imagine that will be a boring directive, but necessary.’; two on Windsor Castle headed paper, dated June 1979, 'Dear Angela, Having now approved Henry's marriage at the Privy Council this week, the way is now clear, I hope for the wedding. I am sure it would be quite all right for them to be married in the Park Chapel at Royal Lodge...', signed 'Yours very sincerely Elizabeth R'; the other with etching of Windsor Castle, dated November 1979, responding to an invite 'to come and see the house', with two accompanying envelopes. (6).

PROVENANCE:
Private collection of Angela Lascelles (wife of The Hon. Gerald Lascelles, First Cousin of Queen Elizabeth II) and thence by descent.
