Selling With Young’s Auctions
If you have items that you wish to sell, the team at Young’s Auctions are happy to guide you through the process of selling at auction to make it clear and simple.
Initial Steps
The first step would be to contact our office on 01252 716082 or email info@youngsauctions.co.uk where a member of our team will be pleased to discuss your requirements. All enquiries are dealt with in turn, we shall respond to your request as soon as possible. Clients are asked to email info@youngsauctions.co.uk with images of their items so that we can identify and assess their auctionability
If you are unable to email images, then we would book an appointment for you to bring items to our premises for assessment. We may ask for these to be left with us for further research and you will be issued with a receipt. If appropriate, one of our valuers would be pleased to visit you at your property to assess the items. We would be happy to discuss this with you.
At this stage, Young’s Auctions provides no obligation, indicative valuations free-of-charge, but please note that these may be subject to change following closer assessment. We can discuss your expectations and suggest reserves if necessary. N.B. Lots with a value estimated below £50 will not attract a reserve.
Consigning Items
If you are happy to proceed, we shall issue you a receipt for items that have been consigned for sale, which lists our terms of sale and confirms your authority to sell the items listed. We ask that you bring identification, (e.g. Passport or Driving Licence), and proof of address.
We shall then catalogue your items, with formalised descriptions and estimates, then email these details in the form of a stock receipt.
Confirmation, in the form of a pre-sale advice note, will be issued in the week leading up to the auction, this will outline the full details of your item(s) including lot number, full catalogue description, estimate and reserve.
Post-Sale
After the auction, you shall receive a post-sale advice note, which will outline the hammer price achieved by your items.
Young’s Auctions aim to make payment to vendors within 28 days after a sale, assuming that we have received full payment in cleared funds from the buyer. We act as agents and cannot be held responsible if the buyer does not pay. Payment to vendors is usually made by bank transfer (or cheque by arrangement). Statements will be sent showing the final payment amount minus the relevant charges.
Where a lot is unsold, we shall discuss with you the possibility of re-entering it with an amended estimate, or otherwise seek instructions regarding the collection or disposal of your items. We request that unsold items are collected within 10 working days of the sale date, otherwise storage fees will apply.
