H.R.H. Mary, Princess Royal and Countess of Harewood (1897-1965, only daughter of King George V and Queen Mary) - Various letters from the 1930s addressed to her son Gerald Lascelles: dated March 5th 1936 on Buckingham Palace headed paper including 'Uncle George and Aunt Marina [Duke and Duchess of Kent] are staying here and I saw the baby 2 days ago, he is very sweet. Uncle David [Duke of Windsor, formerly King Edward VIII] dined with Grannie [Queen Mary] last night before he went up to Scotland to see the ""Queen Mary""...; March 28th 1935 including 'This afternoon Daddy and I went to Victoria Station to meet Uncle Harry [Prince Henry, Duke of Gloucester] on his return from his tour. He looks very well. Grandpapa, the Uncles, Daddy etc. were alll in uniform...'; March 6th 1935 'Last night I went to the Gardeners Company dinner - it was in the City at the Merchant Taylors' hall. There were 300 people present! I went with Uncle David [Duke of Windsor, formerly King Edward VIII] who was made a Freeman of the Gardener's Company. I am one already. I stay with Grannie and Grandpapa [King George and Queen Mary] from next Friday to Tuesday...'; June 1937 '...Daddy and I dined at the Egyptian Embassy to meet the King of Egypt and the Queen Mother, it was very hot. I went to Eton on Saturday afternoon to see Uncle Bertie and Aunt Elizabeth...[King George VI and the Queen mother]', and others.
