H.R.H. Mary, Princess Royal and Countess of Harewood (1897-1965, only daughter of King George V and Queen Mary) - Various letters from the 1930s addressed to her son Gerald Lascelles: dated February 10th 1937 including 'Uncle David [Duke of Windsor] brought us to this Castle, 45 minutes from Vienna...very comfortable with electric light, heating and baths'; one dated October 1st 1936 on Buckingham Palace headed paper 'You will be amused when I tell you that I began this letter at Buckingham Palace after luncheon and am finishing it at Marlborough House where we moved after luncheon. Uncle David lunched with us...' and later 'I fear Grannie must feel rather sad leaving Buckingham Palace after living there 26 years'; another dated November 28th 1939 ' I went with Grannie [Queen Mary] to London yesterday and we lunched with Uncle Bertie and Aunt Elizabeth [King George VI and the Queen Mother] and met Uncles Harry and George and Aunts Alice and Marina'; and various others.
