Description:
William Pitt, the Younger (1759-1806), Prime Minister 1783-1801 & 1804-1806: Two of three envelope fronts mounted in a frame - the third dated May 26th 1798, addressed to 'The Countess Dowager of Chatham, Burton Pynsent, Somerton' (his mother); the second dated January 1800, addressed to 'The Earl of Chatham, Ipswich' (his father, William Pitt the Elder).
The first envelope in the frame is addressed to 'The Lady S.A. Taylor' (the Pitt family married into the Taylor family).

FOOTNOTE
This third envelope is dated three days after on May 23, 1798 the Irish Rebellion broke out. It ended on September 8, 1798. This revolt prompted Pitt to support the Act of Union, which took effect on January 1, 1801, and unified Great Britain (Wales, England and Scotland) and Ireland as a United Kingdom.
The second envelope is dated the same month as The Acts of Union with Ireland which abolished the Irish Parliament and gave Ireland 100 MPs in Westminster.
